AUTHENTICITY...

Out today courtesy of FE Music is Authenticity, the third album from hip-hop turned soul duo The Foreign Exchange. One of the strengths of 2008's Leave It All Behind was the diversity of vocal talents backing Phonte including Muhsinah, YahZarah and Darien Brockington. With Authenticity, Phonte goes it alone for much of the album and I can't yet say if that's a good thing. Perhaps I need to give it a few more spins?

LEAVE IT ALL BEHIND...

Nicolay & Phonte (of Little Brother fame) connect for a second time as The Foreign Exchange and deliver a fresh batch of soulful tunes entitled Leave It All Behind.

This time around, Phonte checks his considerable rhyme skills at the door, choosing to flex his vocal pipes instead over Nicolay's breezy productions. The result is a butter-smooth collection of R&B joints that simply cannot be denied. For a sample, check out lead single "Daykeeper" below.
