ANTONIONIAN...

Also out this week is the self-titled debut from Antonionian, better known as Jordan Dalrymple of Subtle/13 & God fame. The production on this record is not what I expected. The stoney indie rock style that both Subtle and 13 & God are known for is replaced by electro-funk-leaning avant-pop tunes. Unexpected, but a pleasant departure.

BLUE MOVIE...

New video from Anti-Pop veteran Beans. This is "Blue Movie" produced by Son Lux from the recently released End It All. This one is not entirely safe for work so be ready with that Alt-Tab.

THE NOTHING/NIGHTLY, DAILY...

One word sums up this video -- bizarre. This is Black Moth Super Rainbow front man Tobacco with "Truck Sweat" from his recently released Fucked Up Friends. NOT 100% SAFE FOR WORK so be ready with that ALT-TAB.

F****D UP FRIENDS...

Another record that dropped this week that I'm very excited about is the solo debut from Black Moth Super Rainbow frontman Tobacco entitled Fucked Up Friends.



Tobacco specializes in mostly instrumental psychedelic hip-hop joints crafted using nothing but analog synthesizers and dusty drum breaks. To help promote the album, Tobacco hooked up with The Hood Internet to release a FREE mini-mixtape of sorts mashing instrumentals from Fucked Up Friends with various Aesop Rock tracks. Avant hip-hop producer Alias is back this week with another batch of (mostly) instrumental joints entitled Resurgam. The record marks his return to Portland, Maine after nearly 10 years of living in OAK. Hence the title Resurgam, a latin word that means "I will rise again". Necessary headphone listening.
