PAUL WHITE & THE PURPLE BRAIN...

Out now via One-Handed Music is Paul White & The Purple Brain, the highly anticipated new album from er, Paul White.

The album is based entirely around the music of ST Mikael, an obscure Swedish psych-rock artist. Paul deftly remoulds Mikael's sounds, adding to it his own trademark beats and ephemera, creating an intriguing and mesmerizing album. Available now at PW's Bandcamp site.

COMPASS...

Another record that dropped during my hiatus is Compass, the third solo effort from blue-eyed crooner Jamie Lidell. The new album is a mash of his recent Stax-inspired material and his previous output with Cristian Vogel as Super Collider. It's certainly a manic collection of tunes, but nonetheless very enjoyable.

ANIDEA...

Next up is Anidea, the debut full-length from Bristol beat maker Guido. Without question, this one is pure heat! A masterful fusion of R'n'B, dubstep, and electro-funk. "The Way U Make Me Feel" featuring Yolanda is quickly becoming an overseas anthem but I prefer the more laid-back vibe of the title track. Check it out after the jump.

DRINK THE SEA...

The rest of this week is dedicated to records that dropped while I was on vacation that I'm just now catching up on. First up is Drink The Sea, the debut full-length from edIT, Ooah, and Boreta collectively known as The Glitch Mob.



I've listened to the album a few times through now and EVERY song is really big. Epic compositions. It feels like a soundtrack. To get an idea of what I'm talking about check out "Animus Vox" below.

Cosmogramma was my vacation theme music so you can imagine my delight when I arrived home to discover that Flying Lotus had leaked this unreleased track via Twitter. More heat from the don of the LA beat scene.

TENDERONI...

New video from Bloc Party frontman Kele. This is "Tenderoni" from his forthcoming solo debut The Boxer due on June 22nd. Production handled by dance-rock heavyweight XXXChange.

THE TROPICS EP...

Also out this week is The Tropics EP, the debut collabo from LA/UK duo Teebs & Jackhigh. Highly impressive instrumental hip-hop that bounces between melodic atmospherics and turbulent dream-hop sequences. Essential headphone listening.

The wait is over. Cosmogramma, the new album from beat scene mogul Flying Lotus has finally arrived.

Without question, FlyLo is at the top of his game right now. Cosmogramma deftly fuses a myriad of styles -- jazz, hip-hop, IDM -- into a cohesive whole that just keeps getting better the more you listen to it. Buy this record.
