NoDoz: ROBOT KOCH

Yesterday we showed some love for a NoDoz alumni, today we introduce the newest inductee, Robot Koch.

Up to this point the Berlin-based producer was best known for his work with club trio Jahcoozi and German post-rock outfit The Tape, but that's all about to change.

RK is going for dolo. His debut full-length, Death Star Droid, drops next month and the tunes contained within range from wonky hip-hop to moody dubstep to driving electro.

CAMBIO WECHSEL...

The new album from Kelpe, Cambio Wechsel, came out a few weeks back and since I picked it up it's been in heavy rotation. The NoDoz alumni delivers the goods with 12 new jams filled with psyched out electronics, buzzing melodies, and fuzzy bass-lines. All good things.

BUTTER...

Out today is Butter, the highly anticipated (at least by me) debut full-length from Glasgow, Scotland producer Hudson Mohawke.

The album is jam-packed with spastic, neon-tinted electro-funk compositions that combine stuttering hip-hop beats, pitched-up vocal samples, and glitchy 8-bit melodies. Sample "FUSE" after the jump. Good stuff.

BOY MEETS WORLD...

The debut from Fashawn, Boy Meets World, dropped last week and I must say I'm thoroughly impressed.

Produced entirely by Exile, the beats are top-notch. However, Fashawn more than holds his own from a lyrical standpoint as well. Kid has great presence behind the mic and shows nice range with his content.

2009 hasn't delivered a whole lot of great hip-hop records but this is surely one of them. Give this kid a listen.

TOEACHIZOWN VOL. 5: SKY...

Okay, let's talk about some of the records that dropped while I was away. First up is Sky from Dâm-Funk, the 5th (and final) release in his Toeachizown project. More electro-boogie funk goodness from the don of the genre.

GREEN EYED LOVE...

Back from vacation and there's quite a bit to get caught up with. Let's start it off with the new video from Mayer Hawthorne. This is "Green Eyed Love" from A Strange Arrangement on Stones Throw. Not my favorite track on the album, but solid.

MY CABAL...

Not-so-new video from Ghostly International dream-pop collective School of Seven Bells. This is "My Cabal" from their 2008 breakthrough record Alpinisms. Good stuff.

GHOST CLOCK...

Brotherly post-rock duo Lymbyc Systym leaked the first single from their forthcoming album Shutter Release last month via RCRD LBL. The song is called "Ghost Clock" and it represents a nice step forward for the band as they look to incorporate a wider range of instruments/sounds into their moody compositions. Listen below.

Stone Throw's electro-boogie kingpin, Dâm-Funk, is back with Hood, the 4th release (of 5) from his Toeachizown project. According to Dâm, this one goes out to...

"...my true Funksta's, G-Funksta's, Gangsta's (keep it mild-mannered though ya'll!), and ALL genuine appreciators of this 'Modern Funk' coming outta Los Angeles, California at this moment."

FLUORESCENT BLACK...

The wait is over. Nearly 7 years removed from their last collective release, Anti-Pop Consortium is officially back with their new album on Big Dada, Fluorescent Black.

Despite the long layoff, the NY foursome doesn't miss a beat as they deliver another batch of mind-bending, abstract hip-hop bangers. Need proof? Peep the video for "Volcano" after the jump.
